– A call to confession and repentance as we enter into the Lenten season.

We didn’t sing this song tonight at my church’s Ash Wednesday service, but it’s been on my mind since February 2nd – Gratitude by Brandon Lake. There are a few lines in particular that stand out:

“Come on my soul

Don’t you get shy on me

Lift up your song

You’ve got a lion inside of those lungs

Get up and praise the Lord.”

It’s difficult to explain the personal significance of these words. I’m not sure I’m meant to share; perhaps it’s just between myself and God. However, I will say this: don’t be silent. If you have something to confess, then confess. If you need to repent, then repent. If you need to forgive or be forgiven, seek it out. If you are born-again believer with the love of Jesus Christ radiating from your soul, you have no business being silent. There are a lot of opinions on how we ought to live our lives but the one thing I know is that we were meant to live boldly, love boldly, and proclaim the hope of Jesus Christ boldly. The Lord is moving in 2023 and I want to be a part of it, and so should you.

2 Timothy 1:7 – God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

I want to enter the season of Lent with great expectations, do you?
